Here’s how to charge your EV for less than the price of your morning coffee

78.2% of customers

in our recent survey said they do almost all their charging at home*

But only 52.7% said

they had a tariff that gets the cheapest rates, some of which can be used all around the home.**

Let's fix that.

If you want to learn more about these tariffs and how easy it is to switch, continue reading.

Time of Use Tariffs

Although not as smart as intelligent tariffs, time of use tariffs allow you to have off-peak time prices between certain hours, incentivising you to use your electricity more during these times.

Intelligent Tariffs

With an intelligent energy tariff such as OVO Charge Anytime your charge point or vehicle will communicate and work with your energy provider to automatically charge your EV when the cost is at its lowest, saving you money.

For Octopus Intelligent Go you will need a compatible vehicle to take full advantage of this tariff. For more information on compatibility, please contact us

Changing Energy Tariff

Changing to a time of use or intelligent energy tariff couldn't be easier. If you are planning on staying with your current energy provider and want to change tariff, simply get in contact with them and they will do all the work for you. Similarly, if you wish to change supplier entirely, all you need to do is contact the supplier you wish to change to and they will organise moving you over to the new provider.

Cheaper than a cup of coffee

The Andersen Index reports that dedicated EV tariffs now average just 7.7p/kWh, so an EV driver could travel 33 miles a day for five days a week at a cost of just £2.90 – a weekly commute for less than the average price of a cup of coffee.

We surveyed 368 Andersen customers in March 2024 asking questions about their vehicle usage charging.

*When asked “How often do you use public rapid charging?” 288 or 78.2% of 368 respondents answered rarely or never.

**When asked “There are a number of preferential rate EV electricity tariffs available now (e.g. OVO Charge Anytime, Octopus Go, E.On Next Drive); do you have such a tariff?” 194 out of 268 respondents (52.7%) answered no.
