While you can use a 3-pin plug, it charges very slowly (often taking over 24 hours for a full charge). A dedicated home charge point like Andersen’s chargers can charge your car up to 10 times faster and are safer for prolonged use
This depends on your electricity tariff and car battery size. As a guide, charging a typical EV with a 60kWh battery from empty to full costs around £15 on a standard tariff or as low as £5-£8 overnight on EV-specific rates. This is far cheaper than petrol or diesel per mile. By charging via a dedicated smart charging tariff, you can save over £400 a year on charging costs.
Using a 7kW home charger (the most common speed for UK homes), a full charge takes around 8-10 hours for a large battery EV. If your home has a three-phase electricity supply, yu will be able to charge at speeds up to 22kW, drastically reducing the time it takes to charge your vehicle.
Yes. All Andersen chargers use Type 2 connectors, compatible with all modern EVs sold in the UK and Europe.
Most homes can install a 7kW charger without any supply upgrades. However, for a 22kW charger, you will need a three-phase supply. Our approved installers will assess your property’s suitability during the survey.
Currently, the OZEV EV charge point grant applies to tenants, landlords and business owners. Eligibility criteria can change, so check our website or the government’s official EV grant page for the latest information.
If you have a street parking you can now charge your car at home via a ‘cross-pavement’ charging channel from Kerbo Charge. These channels are professional installed outside your home – when you want to charge you lift the lid, insert your cable, and the specially designed lid closes behind just you like a zip. The cable is then safely enclosed and won’t trip anyone over. These are being rolled out across the country, check if it’s available where you live here
