Porsche all-electric and plug-in hybrid charging: key stats

  • Charging: Porsche’s plug-in hybrids can be charged using standard AC charging points at home or on the road up to a capacity of 22kW. Porsche’s all-electric Taycan models can be charged using either standard AC charging points, or ultra-fast DC charging points.
  • EV type: Porsche’s plug-in hybrid models feature an internal combustion engine married to an electric motor which work in combination. The Taycan has an entirely battery-electric platform and a two-speed automatic transmission.
  • Charging connector type: Porsche’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicles feature type 2 sockets, allowing them to charge at standard AC charging points. The Porsche Taycan features both type 2 and CCS sockets allowing them to be charged at standard AC charging points and ultra-fast DC charging points.
  • Range optimisation: the Porsche Taycan features the Porsche Intelligent Range Manager, which automatically adjusts setting within the car (e.g. speed and air conditioning) to maximise range. The Porsche Charging Planner can also be used to maximise range and travelling efficiency.

How to calculate your charging time

Every electric vehicle has different charging times. So we can understand the potential confusion. There are only 2 main things to consider when working out your cars charging time.

What do I need to know?

Your EVs battery size & how much power your charger has.

Calculation to work out your charging time:

Battery capacity / Charger Power (kW) = Hours of charge from 0-100%

For example:

If you charge your Extended range Porsch with a 93.4kWh battery capacity, from 0-100% using your Andersen A2, you would expect this to typically take around 13 hours.

However, most EV owners will never need to use 100% of their battery range. To charge from 20%-80%, simply calculate 60% of the total charge time.

The Andersen A2 has 7.2kW of power, similar to the average home charge point.

Battery sizes by Porsche Model

Taycan - 79.2 to 93.4kWh

Taycan 4S - 79.2 to 93.4kWh

Taycan GTS - 93.4kWh

Taycan Turbo - 93.4kWh

Taycan Turbo S - 93.4kWh

Panamera 4 E-Hybrid - 17.9kWh

Panamera 4S E-Hybrid - 17.9kWh

Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid - 14.1kWh

Cayenne E-Hybrid - 25.9kWh

(Please note that battery size may be subject to model derivative.)
