Case Study
DIY Journey
Rob wanted to fully customise his home & style it the way he wanted. He chose the Andersen A2 charging unit to compliment his home. We followed up with Rob to find out why he chose Andersen over other home charging units.
"How long have you been driving electric, and what made you make the switch?"
I have a BMW iX3 which is my first Full Electric car. Since March 2022 I have covered 28k miles, which is the exact reason for the switch to EV. I am able to reduce my running costs through using an electric vehicle while charging my car using solar.
"How did you hear about Andersen and what made you pick an A2?"
I had 3 main objectives when searching for a home EV charging unit: A charger that had style & looked good, a charger that was tethered without having messy or unorganised cables & is solar compatible. To which this particular product ticked all 3 boxes and more! The Andersen A2 charging unit still, in my opinion, is the best looking EV charger on the market.

"Are there any specific features about the Andersen that you like?"
I would have to say that among all the great features of the A2, Solar compatibility has to be my favourite. During the summer months this can potentially give us upwards of 80 miles of range, purely from the sun. I would say my second is the adaptive fuse option, which removes any risk of electric tripping, so reduces the charging rate on the car when the house demand for electricity is high.
"What colour did you go for, and why?"
We decided on the ‘Nearly Black’ which is more on the Anthracite Grey scale, so matches perfectly with our Front Door and Garage Doors.

"Your home is beautiful – what is the story behind your build?"
We decided that we wanted to buy a house that needed work, this allowed us to buy at an affordable price, but also adapt and renovate it exactly to our style. With my YouTube channel and Social Media platforms, it also allowed me the ability to share the journey & enlighten others about EV options.
"What features about the Andersen do you find particularly useful?"
The neat and tidy solution it offers is great, having the cable tucked away and the reach of the cable is fantastic. I also really like the look of the charger. The ability to remotely disable the charger is very useful for us, so we can control the access even when we are not at the holiday cottages.

"Do you have any other tips for potential self-homebuilders when it comes to energy?"
When considering a self-build project, something we do is explore available grants and other opportunities to minimize our energy consumption and maximize our energy efficiency. Hence why EV is the ideal option.
