Andersen EV Three-step installation process

Andersen EV Three-step installation process

Congratulations on your decision to go electric! We want your EV charging experience to be as simple and smart as possible, so here we will guide you through the key elements of the process, from selection to installation and ongoing use.

We are proud to be the only UK premium charging company to operate EV-only vehicles for our installation fleet. Our trained installers are all EV drivers and will have you set up and using your new unit within just a few hours.

The hardest part is choosing from the 96 colour combinations on offer, and choosing which cable length works best for you. After that, just follow our simple three-steps to installation:

Step 1: Select from ‘Standard’ or ‘Premium’ installation

After configuring your unit online by selecting your colour, power and cable choices, click the ‘continue’ button to be directed to the installation selection screen.

Standard installation

85% of installations will fall into this category if:

  • Your home is a domestic property in an urban or suburban setting
  • Your charger will be fitted within 15 metres of your electricity meter box
  • Your A2 unit and cable run will be less than 1.8m above the ground (see our images)
  • You have bought a 7kW A2 charge point

Premium installation

We recommend our Premium installation if:

  • You require a 22kW (three-phase) charge point
  • You will need a special charge point location that may require extra cabling or a complicated route
  • You do not have the time to complete our online questionnaire
  • We cannot confirm remotely that your requirement meets the Standard specifications above, and would therefore benefit from a home survey

Our Premium installation service price includes the A2 unit, the cost of a home survey, and our standard 7kW or 22kW charge point installation. Any additional materials and labour required for your installation will be included in our quote after your survey.

If you are unsure whether you qualify for the Standard installation, we can send you a questionnaire to gather more detailed information.

Step 2: Finalising your order

If you are not quite ready to request the installation of your A2 unit right away, or plan to find your own qualified electrician, please choose the ‘no-installation’ option. We recommend choosing either our Standard or Premium installation to benefit from our market-leading three-year warranty on the unit and installation.

You’ll be asked if you’d like to include surge protection for an additional fee, to protect your vehicle, property, charge point and yourself in the event of a lightning strike or other freak electrical accident. Without this, the unit is still safe and compliant, but some users prefer this added layer of protection.

To complete your order, you will be asked to review your order and input your details before continuing to payment.

Step 3: Book your installation slot

After you have confirmed your order, we will send the charger unit direct to your home address for arrival within four business days. We will then be in touch to arrange an installation date and time convenient for you between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

On the installation day, one of our fully trained electrical engineers will arrive in a branded EV to install your unit. They will talk you through what will happen, and your electricity will only need to be turned off for a few minutes to complete the final set-up. After installation and testing, the installer will talk you through how to use your charger and app and answer any questions you may have.

If you have any questions about our installation process before placing an order, feel free to contact our customer support team.
