How to calculate your charging time

Every electric vehicle has different charging times. So we can understand the potential confusion. There are only 2 main things to consider when working out your cars charging time.

What do I need to know?

Your EVs battery size & how much power your charger has.

Calculation to work out your charging time:

Battery capacity / Charger Power (kW) = Hours of charge from 0-100%

For example:

If you charge your Tesla Model S with a 100kW battery capacity, from 0-100% using your Andersen A2, you would expect this to typically take around 13 hours.

However, most EV owners will never need to use 100% of their battery range. To charge from 20%-80%, simply calculate 60% of the total charge time.

The Andersen A2 has 7.2kW of power, similar to the average home charge point.

Battery sizes by Tesla Model

Tesla Model S - 100kWh

Tesla Model 3 - 75kWh

Tesla Model X - 100kWh

Tesla Model Y - 75kWh

(Please note that battery size is subject to model derivative.)
